Our History
Suarez Brothers was founded in 1953. Long before the company became one of the leaders in metal arts, its humble beginnings started with founder Apolinar M. Suarez who came from a family of farmers in Pulilan, Bulacan. He moved to Manila to seek a better life in the big city, working in a tailor shop that specialized in military uniforms. He noticed that the shop required large orders of belt buckles and realized the business potential of manufacturing such products.
After two years of apprenticeship and acquiring marketing skills, Apolinar moved to Cebu and set up a modest metal arts shop in Burgos Street, Cebu City named Suarez Brothers as he sent for his brother from Manila to help in running the business. It was Apolinar who built the company from the ground up, personally taking charge of day-to-day operations from taking orders, metal stamping to casting the rings. In 1965, he entered a bid to produce the Christianization Quadricentennial Commemorative Gold Medallion during the Fourth Centennial Celebration of the Christianization of the Philippines. He bested other metal arts manufacturers by offering customized medallions. This was the company’s stepping stone towards building a solid name in the industry.
Ingenuity, creativity and hard work were the main factors that propelled the company, which diversified into several product categories. Soon, Suarez Brothers catered not only to schools and universities but also to several large companies for their anniversary or inaugural tokens and souvenirs, dry seals and brass signages and, significantly, the Armed Forces of the Philippines for their insignias and other regalia.
It was Suarez Brothers’ mark of distinction of fine craftsmanship through the decades that paved the way for the company to enter the global market. Today, Suarez Brothers has a force of more than 100 highly skilled workers, spread across 12 branches all over the Philippines. An overseas branch in Guam covers its operations in the Pacific region, including Hawaii. The company still continues to grow in order to cater to clients across the archipelago and all over the Asia-Pacific Region – including the USA, Japan and Canada – to as far away as United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Suarez Brothers envisions to be a leader in metal stamping and metal casting not only in the Philippines but across the world offering metal arts products that will give customers an incomparable sense of pride and distinction.
